Sometimes there are so many different materials in work gloves that it can get confusing which type to wear or buy. Different coatings are best for different applications and it is important for your safety that you choose the correct one.
Latex are used for incidental contact. They are a great for a general purpose glove for dry applications. It usually has a decent puncture and abrasion resistance. They have little chemical protection.
Nitrile gloves are also used for incidental contact. They are awesome for high water, oily applications. They have great abrasion resistance. If you are allergic to latex, a nitrile option is going to be your best friend. Unlike latex gloves, there is usually a more clear indication of punctures and a higher protection from chemicals.
PU gloves are very soft and good if you work very detailed with your hands because they are usually very flexible and have great grip. They are also easily washed. They are great for food prep and also latex free.
PVC gloves are an economical, general purpose glove. PVC is a thermoplastic polymer of vinyl chloride. There is usually a good abrasion resistance but not as good puncture resistance. There is not as much tactile sensitivity with PVC as polyurethane.
We have plenty of each type of gloves on the site! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
I recently stumbled across a really great site that I wanted to share with all of you here at SafetyGirl. It is called Live Your Dream. It says directly on their site that their mission is “a movement fiercely dedicated to ensuring every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential, be free from violence, and live her dreams.” They put up statistics to help you realize gender inequality and the challenges that some women face daily. For example, 1 in 4 high school aged girls in the United States do not graduate (according to the national women’s law center) and around the world, 150 million girls under the age of 18 are victims of sexual violence according to UNIFEM. These stats are really eye opening and are worth taking a look at.
This site raises money to be able to put women & girls through education and training programs. The two programs offered are Live Your Dream and Dream It, Be It.
To support this site, you can donate money or simply take pledges to show your appreciation and support. Below are a few examples of non-money ways you can support these amazing women.
Send a Message of Support to Girls – there are currently 1463 supporters sending messages to help adolescent girls to overcome obstacles by words of encouragement.
Pledge to End Violence Against Women – women and girls affected by domestic violence are affected for the rest of their lives. According to the NDV Hotline, 4.8 Million women in the U.S. experience domestic abuse. You can help this site raise awareness by taking a pledge along with 3585 other supporters.
There are so many ways to help support women and girls in the world. By simply looking at this website and educating yourself on these statistics can help. I think this is a great start and really commend Live Your Dream for making a difference.

The NAWIC, or National Association of Women in Construction began in 1955 to recognize those hard working ladies. With over 4,000 women in the organization, OSHA was bound to start focusing on the women in this career path.
If you were not aware, as of 2013, OSHA has an alliance with the NAWIC. They continue to work on this alliance to make the working conditions for women the best that they can be. This OSHA alliance had a five year pact to look at all different areas of work that women construction workers are exposed to including supplies, tools, sanitation and much more. They have now renewed this pact to further look into these working conditions.
They say they want women to be more involved in the rule making process and helping inform others of these rules. They want more women in the meeting rooms and to give input on their own working conditions and how they can be improved.
This is pretty cool and a step up to women equality. We have so many women working in construction and we need safety precautions too. Thank you OSHA for recognizing the NAWIC!
Now, we are by no means a workout website or store but we are all for helping out the working women. If you’re anything like me you have a hard time getting motivated to get to the gym and exercise. Working a 40 hour week, all I want my weekends to be is relaxation because that is what my body is telling me I need. However, many studies show that working workouts into your schedule (even 30 minutes 3X per week) can make you healthier, happier and boost your motivation. That sounds wonderful to me. So what does it take to get to motivated TO GET motivated?! Well I have an idea. Let’s up that workout apparel in your closet. Below are listed some cute, stylish & extremely durable clothes that fit great for any workout whether you want to try kickboxing, yoga or even just walking in your neighborhood.
First things first. You absolutely NEED a great pair of shoes. If your feet hurt so does the rest of your body. Our number one pick is the Puma safety Celerity Shoes. We have read review after review about how great these shoes are. They are comfortable and breathable…two things you NEED in an athletic shoe.
Next, you need a comfy top that moves where you move. You can choose a tank top, a short sleeve shirt, a long sleeve shirt or a light jacket depending on what activity you plan to do.
Now that you have some cute shoes & clothing in your closet, you are more likely to get motivated. Keep us updated on your success!
